These lemon bars are enhanced with the bright flavor of Pure Lemon Extract which is made with pure lemon oil distilled from the cold-pressed harvest of a California lemon grove. Blended to preserve the bright citrus bouquet, our extract is made with certified organic cane sugar alcohol, and without terpenes. These Sonoma Lemon Bars are the perfect summer treat!
Sonoma Lemon Bars
½ cup powdered sugar
8 oz (2 sticks) unsalted butter
1 cup unbleached flour
1 cup whole wheat flour
½ tsp sea salt
1 tsp Sonoma Syrup Co. Pure Vanilla Bean Extract "Blend"
1 tsp Sonoma Syrup Co. Pure Almond Extract
4 eggs, beaten
2 cups sugar
½ cup fresh lemon juice
¼ cup flour
1 tsp grated lemon zest
½ tsp baking powder
1 tsp Sonoma Syrup Co. Pure Lemon Extract
½ tsp Sonoma Syrup Co. Pure Almond Extract
½ tsp Sonoma Syrup Co. Pure Vanilla Bean Extract "Blend"
For the pastry:
For the lemon filling:
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees
Cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy
Stir in the flour, salt and extract
Press the mixture and build up edges by ½ inch into a lightly greased 13 x 9 inch baking pan
Bake for 15 to 20 minutes until lightly golden then remove from oven
Blend all the lemon filling ingredients and pour over the baked crust
Bake for 25 minutes then let cool
Sift powdered sugar over the top and cut into squares. Yum!
